StumbleUpon is a killer community focused on discovering and sharing

If you're the type of Internet user that's always trying to find the best interactive, creative, and fun websites then this post is for you.
If you've ever spent time searching for new  things to do online without using the almighty StumbleUpon keep reading because I'll briefly introduce and explain how to use SU.

For that special breed of StumbleUpon users that have a website I've posted a few traffic statistics and a few screen shots that show traffic from SU.

What is StumbleUpon in my words?

First off, Stumbleupon is by far the most unique web site that I have ever come across.  At first glance, SU does an excellent job of cloaking the tightly organized killer community that is completely focused on the discovering and the sharing of the Internet's great websites.

How StumbleUpon works...

StumbleUpon works with a simple thumbs-up thumbs-down rating system.  The only thing required by you to use SU is a simple click on the "Stumble" icon that sits happily on your browser's tool bar.  It's called the "Stumble button".  When clicked, StumbleUpon delivers high-quality web pages matched to your personal preferences.

How webmasters use StumbleUpon for creative websites

If your a webmaster looking to add a source of free traffic to your site then StumbleUpon is the tool to use and right here is where I will provide a few examples showing why this is such a powerful weapon for webmasters and web users.

Before going any further please remember that the amount of traffic StumbleUpon sends your way is based upon the quality of the page you are suggesting.  StumbleUpon is so awesome because of how SU works, basically it goes like this, if the page you are suggesting is a really good page then SU can send thousands of visitors per day to that page.

Example of StumbleUpon traffic:

There have been many days in which Stumbleupon has sent over 1000 unique visitors to a single page! It all depends on the quality of the page you are suggesting.  There's no gaming the StumbleUpon algorithm.  If a web page is excellent, SU will send it's users to that page, if it sucks SU will send it to what some call, the StumbleUpon graveyard.   It's no secret that visually stunning pages and interactive flash animations do really well on StumbleUpon.

The graveyard is more a bug in the system than somewhere content is sent if it is poor quality.

Seriously though it's really an honor and I'm not afraid to admit it.

In regards to your comment...yes I'm aware of the graveyard thing. My fault for not clearly explaining myself. I just like the name Graveyard  even though SU isn't sending those pages anywhere.

One thing you should be careful of is displaying a button to Stumbleupon, because it can actually cause one of the Graveyard problems Tim pointed out.

Well I guess I'll go ahead and share with you the most powerful thing you can do with SU. If you've got a page that's in the graveyard that once received tons of visitors just go back unrate and then rerate the page changing the review while adding a few keywords and make sure to change the date.

In the past I've seen as much as 10K visitors in a few days to pages that stopped getting SU hits.

Right on Daily Tech Impressions. StumbleUpon can do miracles for excellent websites. Checking out your site is for sure in my to-do list.

Sitehoppin sends a few visitors here and I used Entrecard pretty heavy for about 3 days. While Entrecard can send a few more truckloads of visitors to a site I just didn't like the way I was browsing all the sites and stopped using it. If you're looking for new blogs in your niche Entrecard works well though.
